POSITION PURPOSE:
This mission-centered position is responsible for the transport of supplies, ocular tissue and blood samples between satellite facilities and airport destinations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Operate a Saving Sight fleet vehicle in a safe and courteous manner.
Transport supplies, ocular tissue and blood samples between satellite facilities and the Kansas City lab.
Document date and time of pickup and delivery occurrences.
Respond to calls for deliveries in a timely manner.
Refuel fleet vehicle as needed.
EDUCATION:
High school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities have been acquired.
QUALIFICATIONS and EXPERIENCE:
Professional interpersonal, written, verbal, and phone communication skills required
Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently, with limited direction, and in a team environment.
Ability to document activities on a manual or electronic log.
Must be able to handle information in a confidential, objective, professional manner.
Must maintain a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record as determined by the organization.
Must provide cellular device for communication.
Must have reliable transportation.
May require use of personal vehicle during exigent circumstances.
Must pass driving and criminal background check.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to travel throughout service region as required.
Driving for extended periods or long distances both day and evening hours.
Requires a great amount of flexibility due to the nature of the Eye Bank's 24-hour business.
This may include day, night, weekend, and/or holiday hours in an on- call status.
Required to have COVID-19 vaccine.
Ability to lift and move more than 40 pounds.
ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS
Ability and knowledge to work in various work environments, for example, normal office environment and normal outdoor exposure.
