Social Media Coordinator
Department: Strategic Communications Department and Marketing Department
Location: Columbia, MO
Type: Staff, Full-Time
Pay: $50,000-$55,000 per year (Pay range may vary based on geographic location)

Job Summary: The Social Media Coordinator is responsible for developing and implementing social media strategies aimed at elevating our brand visibility, fostering audience engagement, and overseeing the overall reputation of our brand across diverse platforms such as Meta, X/Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, and other relevant outlets.
In addition, this position will collaborate with different departments across the college to support their initiatives and ensuring adherence to the social media policy.
Essential Functions: Organic Social Media Management: Manage the official Columbia College social media accounts on Meta, X/Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok and others as appropriate.
Plan, manage and execute the social media content calendar (Airtable) for all platforms.
Monitor and engage with the online community, responding to comments, messages, and mentions in a timely and professional manner.
Alert the appropriate stakeholders and strategize appropriate responses for inquiries made via social media channels that may activate crisis management protocol.
Foster relationships with influencers and brand advocates to amplify our reach.
Assist Columbia College Global page managers in the management of their social media accounts.
Introduce social media solutions to other key constituency groups (i.
e.
, faculty) and assist them with social media standards/protocols.
Strategy Implementation: Collaborate with the Assistant Vice President for Strategic Communications and the Senior Director of Web & Digital Marketing to develop and implement comprehensive social media strategies that aligned with the college’s goals.
Review plan and materials from other initiatives such as paid marketing, email communication journey and others to ensure the social media strategy support those efforts.
Content Creation: Based on the set strategy, create compelling and informative content for social media that speak to various key audiences and highlights different aspects of the college.
Oversee the college’s internal communication tool, myPortal, and serve as the team’s main point of content/primary poster for the tool.
Create written content for marketing materials (poster, flyer, brochure) as needed.
Analytics and Reporting: Utilize various analytics tools (Hootsuite, Google Analytics) to track and analyze performance metrics.
Generate regular reports and annual audit on key social media metrics (reach, engagement rate, etc…), providing insights and recommendations for improvement.
Monitor competitor activity and suggest potential improvements or adjustments to our approach.
Other Requirements: Serve as a liaison for the Advancement Division and Enrollment Management and Marketing Division with college departments and faculty and serve on various committees as assigned.

Position reports to: Assistant Vice President for Strategic Communications and Senior Director of Web & Digital Marketing *Supervision of the position will be evaluated annually or as the needs of the college evolve.
*Supervisors will collaborate on the employee’s annual performance evaluation.
Supervisory Responsibility: None Required Core Competencies and Professional Experience: Ability to fluently read, write, and understand the English language.
Proficiency with the following, but not limited to active listening, speaking, writing, critical thinking, judgment and decision making, monitoring, reading comprehension, time management, coordination, and management of personnel resources.
Proficiency in using various computer and technology-related software and equipment, including Microsoft Office products and database systems.
Ability to shoot still-frame photography and video is preferred.
Proficiency in Hootsuite, AirTable and other social media management software Ability to work independently and in a team environment, with or without direct supervision.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, customer service, and organizational skills.
Ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced work environment.
Ability to follow current processes and procedures outlined by the Marketing Department and Strategic Communications Department.
Ability to meet deadlines, and pivot quickly to a changing environment.
3-5 years of social media management experience preferred.
Solid understanding of social media tactics and ways to communicate to make an impact for the brand and various constituency groups within the college.
